The Corona Lounge Suit. Part 4: sewing the pants.

This pattern is mostly suited to construction with an overlocker. A narrow zig-zag could also be used, click the Phoebe Freebie Hack link to go to the Pattern Union YouTube channel.


Cut out the trouser pattern pieces in stretchy (50%), knit fabric. Mark the center notches on the waistband pieces.

Seam allowance is 1cm (3/8”).

This pattern is mostly suited to construction with an overlocker. A narrow zig zag could also be used.

Prepare the pants:

1. Right sides together, pin the front crotch curve.

2. Overlock the seam.

3. Right sides together, pin the back crotch curve.

4. Overlock the seam.


5. Right sides together, pin the outside leg seams.

6. Overlock the seams.



7. Right sides together, pin the inside leg seam.

8. Overlock the seam.


Prepare the waistband:

9. Right sides together, pin side seams of the outer and lining waistband pieces.

10. Overlock the seams.



11. Turn the outer waistband the right way out.

12. Right sides together, pin the outer and inner waistbands together along the top seam.

13. Overlock the seam.



14. Optional: edgestitch the seam to the lining, using either a zigzag stitch, twin needles, or a coverstitch.


Sew the waistband to the pants:

15. Right sides together, pin the waistband to the pants, matching the waistband notches with the center front and back pants seams, and the waistband side seams with the pants side seams.

16. Overlock the waist seam.

17. Optional: edgestitch the seam to the pants, using either a zigzag stitch, twin needles, or a coverstitch.


Hem the pants:

18. Turn up the pants 4cm (1 9/16”) or the desired amount. Using an erasable marker can help keep the hem even.



19. Pin in place.



20. Hem the pants using either a zigzag stitch, twin needles, or a coverstitch.
